Exploring the Hohenwerfen Castle -in April 2026

We took the vernacular up to the castle which was a quick 2 minute ride and once you go up a set of stairs you are directly in the courtyard of the castle. The tour was great first showing us the cathedral room and then moving on to various rooms including the torture chamber which was really disturbing and the prison was even worse.

The highlight of the tour was the bird display, which ws a show of falcons, eagles and vultures flying freely over the castle with the trainer directing the birds to swoop and fly so fast and glide so naturally which was quite impressive.
