Pflaumensaft
Since we have been in Salzburg I have been eating everything and anything and a lot of the foods are carbolicious we’re talking pizza (the size of a steering wheel), the pretzels again are massive and so many varieties to choose from, the huge selection of breads (with the baguettes being my all time favourite) and then all the strudel and pastries and dumplings which all have a running theme of flour and sugar. Team them with a further side of more carbs like spatzle or knopfle and you have a meal ready to knock you into a good 4 hour coma. But I can’t resist the temptation and I said to myself I would taste and enjoy everything for a solid 2 weeks and then pace myself, however my sensors have been having a wonderful time but my body is wondering what the hell is going on and decided to hit pause and that is what took me on a delightful hunt for the elusive pflaumensaft.
This stuff is gold and works almost immediately. It is of course prune juice but it took me a while to find it. It’s not in any of the supermarkets or health food stores and so I decided to research online where in Austria you could buy it.
I first tried a tinie tiny 200ml bottle of what the pharmacist said is a “strong elixir” and as I was purchasing the tiny 200ml bottle of OxtiXpress juice I couldn’t imagine that working and it didn’t at all so I continued on my search reading many on line reviews and seeing what products were sold in Austria and found a product called “Rabenhorst Pflaumi” which worked so well that it cleansed the last decade of my digestive tract within an 1 hour!
The way I was able to purchase it was by trying my luck and emailing the nearest chemist called “Moos Apotheke” and asking if they stocked it. They emailed me back and mentioned they didn’t but they would order it in and within that afternoon they had 2 bottles ready for me to collect. I was amazed that the chemist not only agreed to order such a quirky product but managed to get it in so quickly for me.
It tasted sweet but also a bit sour but was easily drinkable and I only needed half a glass. Mission accomplished and I will keep a bottle handy in the cupboard.
