Prague quick stop over and KFC Lunch
Prague was of course absolutely incredible and we picked the city as a stop over from Germany Getzen on the way home. The drive was 3 hours and we left around 10am so by the time we got to Prague the kids were bursting to get lunch and the only thing they wanted to eat was KFC.
We have discovered since living in Salzburg that there are no KFC chains….not one and coming from Australia where there is nearly one on every corner the kids had not had KFC in over 3 months so were very excited.
We didn’t have to walk very far once we parked the car for the kids to locate the nearest one.
Inside there were digital ordering menus that we purchased from. They had a pumpkin latte which I thought I would try and the kids got their various box meals - Daniel spicy wings and Jessy her tenders. Ben and I were going to find some traditional Czec food for our lunch so we didn’t order. The pumpkin latte was so good, I couldn’t believe I had found such a yummy drink and I’m putting this on my schedule to get again but I think it may have only been a halloween special unfortunately.
After lunch was finished we strolled around Prague for an hour or so as we had to keep driving back to Salzburg.
Standouts were the Old Town Square and there is a large statue in the center of the square honoring Jan Hus, a Czech national hero. Also in the square there is a clock tower. There is a walk from Old Town to the bridge which is lined with small shops that we had a quick browse in a few of them, one had a car made of sprockets.
Prague is very much a city where old meets new, on one hand you have cathedrals and churchs and museums and then you turn around and there is Starbucks and Cartier, lots of fashion shops and lots of cafes and restaurants. We enjoyed exploring the city and the few hours that we were there we actually saw a lot of the old town the river, and the outside of the landmarks and monuments.
A menu from a traditional Prague Restaurant
Ben and I decided to get some street food and tried a bamberack pancake and of course pork on the spit with a side of mustard. It was yum but a little too oily for my liking.
