Salzburg Zoo. What a fun interactive experience…we were able to get upclose with the animals.

Family Day this weekend was a trip to the zoo. We have been to many many zoo’s but we all agree this is a fantastic zoo, they layout is easy to walk around, the animals are so close you can almost touch them and there are so many to see, from bears to reindeer, to penguins, flamingos and jaguars this zoo has nearly all the animals and they even have a section for Australian animals.. We were expecting to see kangaroos and koalas but instead they have wallabies and emus.

Our favourite animals were the reindeer and the goats with the longest horns we were puzzled how they manage to hold their head up.

My favourite part of the day was when we were walking to see the penguins and we heard a rustling above our heads and we look up and there were the most adorable Lemmas just right there (black and white) and right out of Madagascar come to life. One walked along the rope with ease above us and I’m sure if I jumped I could have grabbed him and put him in our back pack and taken him home.

My favourite animal of the day was what we were calling a ‘Capiburrow’ the most sweetest looking beaver cross squirrel. I waited almost 10 minutes for him to move but he was too scared to come out of his burrow.

We spent a lot of time with the moneys and even longer with the goats and deers. We even got to feed the alpacas that were so soft and fluffy and so friendly. Who said alpacas spit at you, as these ones were very polite.

After 4 hours at the zoo we headed on home in a very very crowded bus that I was sure they couldn’t fit any more people on……. then one more got on.

We are not sure what the rules are with the buses but it seems as long as you can get in the bus the bus will take passengers.
