Walking on the frozen lake at Leopoldskroner Weiher Monchsberg
There is a beautiful ride that winds through Alstadt and past some flamingos and the cutest goats and baby lambs and then down a canal and around to Leopoldskron lake. Today the lake was frozen and I was dubious to go and walk on it but Ben was right on running around and trying to see how far out he could go. There were children and adults all over the lake walking around and once I saw a 2 year old baby trying to keep its balance walking on the ice I thought there is no way parents would let their child go on a lake if it wasn’t perfectly safe. So I decided to venture out and it was a blast. Very surreal walking on what was only 2 weeks ago when we visited water and a lake now frozen.
We are going to keep an eye out and see if people go ice skating then bring our skates over for a skate.
The goats were very friendly and came right up for a pat.
On the ride home we found the sweetest spot to sit and have a picnic lunch. We caught the last of the afternoon sun for only 15 minutes and then it went cold. We enjoyed the view of the mountains and the traditional Austrian houses and farmyards in our view.
