Alpenseebad Mondsee aqua lake
We have officially hit 31 degree temperatures and over here it feels even hotter. We caught the bus out to Mondsee for the day as it was a place we had never been and what a wonderful hidden little gem we found.
There is a water park with water slides, a cute beach area (pretty sure they would have had to ship the sand in to make the beach). There are 2 diving platforms 3m and 5m that we all jumped off into the lake.
The water was cold but once we swam around it did get warmer and we were too busy climbing the aqua floaties and going off and on all the water devices to notice the cool temp.
All 4 of us absolutely loved climbing up the aqua floaty that looks like a white marshmallow - it was our favourite. To put it in context you have to get your foot into the first rung while in the water and catapult yourself up to grab the second rung while trying to climb the divice in mid movement from the water and about 15 other people all scrambling to try and climb too. It was high as well (we estimate the top was 3m out of the water) so quite exhilirating once you got to the top. Then you sit at the top and push yourself off and go sliding off into the water. We climbed this contraption until our arms were sore and we were out of breath.
The park had an umbrella that we hired and we then found a patch of grass right in front of the lake to set up our area. The atmosphere around was so fun and relaxing, with umbrellas in every direction, people sun baking and relaxing, music playing in the background, 2 food outlets servicing lunch and drinks and ice creams and the most beautiful views of the lake with the mountains in the background.
We stayed all day and just swam and played and were then graced with mummy swan and her 5 babies in the wading pool. Daddy swan was in a bit of mood and when we went to take photos he decided to bite Bens toes. (too funny).
Only a 45 minute bus ride from Salzburg and so well organised it is a great place to go swimming when it is hot and the kids want a fun day out.
